Atefeh Baradaran is an Iranian-born Canadian visual artist whose practice employs elements of drawing, painting and sculpture. She draws her inspirations from the compositions present in her natural and architectural surrounding. Her abstract work often presents methodically produced designs that are playfully combined with unexpected elements of disruption. In her recent paintings, she shows a growing interest in exploring the interplay between the painted image and the underlying structure where each hold as much emphasis and presence in the finished work.

Atefeh has lived most of her adult life in Vancouver, BC and has recently relocated to Saint John, NB. She holds a BFA from Emily Carr University of Art and Design and has shown her work in various galleries across BC. She was nominated for the IDEA Art Award in 2015 and was the recipient of the Salt Spring Painters Guild Award at the 2019 Salt Spring National Art Prize.
